The Stories Behind My Creations

People ask me, how and from where do I get my jewelry design ideas. I really can't pinpoint that in general, but here are some instances of my designs drawing inspiration from specific sources.
For me, nature is a big source of inspiration for sure. Fortunately, I traveled a lot and stayed in different countries, and observed different cultures. All those experiences contributed to my ideas. Sometimes some special beads, a dress, a print, or even a holiday destination inspire me!
Let me tell a few backstories of making a few pieces for my own use.
For a major part of my life, I lived near water - a river, a pond, a lake, or a sea. So any type of water body attracts me. On our last holiday trip before Covid hit us hard, we went to a cottage not far from Montreal. The place is in a mountainous area complete with a nice big lake in the middle!
We never plan a lot before this kind of short trip. But we try to make sure some water activities are available nearby.
After reaching there, we found ourselves on the water pretty soon! Canadian lakes are very cold even in the height of the summer. So we didn't dare to dive into the lake! We explored the area by kayaks instead.
The cottage we booked for a long weekend came with kayaks complete with a shared dock!
So I hopped into a kayak, and after paddling for a while I decided to stop and enjoy the view from the middle of the lake.

The edge of the water was lined with the lush green of conifer and deciduous trees standing tall on mountainsides, against a clear blue sky dotted with white clouds. The reflection of the surroundings on the lake surface was broken by the wind and my kayak! The green edges of trees were breaking and mixing with the blue of the sky with a few patches of white cloud. The bright sun added a few sparkles here and there to this beautiful picture!

I can't claim this is the first time I experienced this kind of view. But this particular time, it stayed in my mind. This pretty collage of colors later inspired me to make this blue-green set for myself. I also found a perfect top to go with it!
Dresses are another source of my design inspiration. Whenever I get a new dress or top, like many of you, I start to think about what type of accessories I would like to wear with it!
Once I got a long summer dress with a Chevron patterned print. Here is the pendant necklace I designed to match that print!
Later I added the matching pair of earrings.
We planned to visit the NASA Space Station in Houston one summer day. I decided to wear this dress and quickly made this pair to go with it.
I heard about this place from my childhood and was always in awe about all those incredible space missions and stories behind them. How the astronauts see the world from outer space - all the stars, the moon, planets, asteroids floating and moving at their own pace. Three dancing beads of this earring represent that idea. I would like to use different colored beads to enhance the idea! But here I just used blue to match my dress and the previously made blue & white pendant.

The amber pendant bead I found when I was shopping for some bead supplies. Isn't it a perfect match with my leopard-printed top?!
I had some leftover glass beads from a previous project. So I made a pair of earrings with those beautiful mosaic patterned glass beads to go with the pendant.
A few of my other matching pieces of jewelry are here.
I did quite a few custom orders too. Some of them were quite challenging and I like that! It is a great pleasure, watching the excited happy faces of my customers when they get their ordered pieces of jewelry.
